The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is top of the Box Office on opening day

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones opened yesterday on the 21st August 2013, and the takings are in for North America.

The Domestic total for the 21st August 2013 was:

$3,006,254

We don’t know how much it took in the UK yet, but it is interesting to see the amount it took on it’s first day in America.

The film cost $60million so we need it to make a lot more than $3million over the weekend for them to justify more films in the future.

But still good for it to be top of the box office.

The critic reviews of the film are not doing to well right now with so far only scoring 16% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. But within the fandom, the fans are giving the film very high marks.

So just make sure you keep watching it over and over again, otherwise we definitely won’t be getting more films in the future, and no Infernal Devices either!

  1. the critics are just a bunch of pessimistic and pretentious viewers. they hardly give any movie (that is not dreadfully sad) a good rating.
