‘City of Ashes’ Production to start in 2014

Great news Shadowhunters! According to Hollywood Reporter, City of Ashes is get to restart in 2014!

You can see below what was posted on Hollywood Reporter.

But Martin Moszkowicz, Constantin Film’s head of film and TV, said Clare’s massive fan base has responded positively to the adaptation and that Constantin is determined to continue the franchise.

“The fan response, from the blogosphere and the thousands of mails we have received, has encouraged us to keep going,” Moszkowicz told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s been overwhelmingly positive, in contrast to some other YA titles.”

Moszkowicz said international returns for City of Bones means the first film’s worldwide take is now close to $100 million but admits box office revenue was below Constantin’s forecasts.

“We are analyzing what we did wrong with the first film, particularly with the positioning and marketing, and what changes we have to make. We are working with a great group of people to reposition the franchise (for City of Ashes).”

Of course, us here at British Nephilim are absolutley thrilled with the news, what about you?

  1. Yes, we hope they don’t change the cast either! But it seems like the main guys have all signed contracts to film the future films, so looks like they may be staying! Just got to keep our fingers crossed!

  2. The cast is perfect.I’m a huge fan of the books and honestly,I was not disappointed with the movie. It was entirely thrilling and intriguing for me and I am finally saying “Thank God they’re moving forward with the City Of Ashes.”I think everyone in production has their mind set on what changes THEY would like and I think all shadowhunters should support them.Personally, the cast is perfect so I don’t think there should be any changes there-just focus on the main issue. 🙂

  3. I’m actually somewhat surprised that are going make City Of Ashes into a movie.
(Although i’m a huge fan of the TMI series) It’s just that City of Bones was a massive fail. they didnt follow the book by any mean and it was all a train-wreck. They changed the whole story. hopefully COA is better!

    • I personally do not agree that it was a MASSIVE fail. I actually really loved the film and completely understand that they can’t make a film the exact same as the book. But I also think that they did change things that I don’t believe they HAD to, a couple of things did annoy me. But I do see films as films, and books as books. But the reason they have put it on hold has always been because they wanted to re-write the script, and Cassie did say that the script she saw for COA was no where near the book, so looks like they may plan on re-writing it to fit better to the books and also so that people who hadn’t read the books understand what is going on more, as that was the main problem for COB I think. Lets keep our fingers crossed 🙂
